Trog
Trog is based on a short poem written by John Evans. Text is about the essence of Martial arts, especially japanese swordsmanship; Physical strength alone is not enough, a true master has failed countless times and the journey is about constantly shattering ones expectations and illusions.
Two years in deep mountain heaving loads, he now can jump goat foot from rock to rock. He had hands and brain enough to build a fortress of his body. Vultures from the past won´t leave him alone and he gets ambushed. Trog encounters mystical Crystalman, who takes him along to a journey where Trog realizes that all he has learned is a mere illusion. He will reassemble and rebuild his body.
Wusheng Company combines high energy, precise and rhythmic movement technique with live music in an unique way where context and telling the story is most important. Trog is a due piece with Wusheng Companys artistic director and peking opera specialist Antti Silvennoinen and percussionist Pekka Saarikorpi who combines drumming and body percussion with Silvennoinens expressive and precise martial-like movement.
